Dr. Silke Opitz
Born 1970. Art historian and independent exhibition curator. Since 2004 has led various art history seminars at the Scuola di Scultura, Peccia.
Studied art history, modern German literature and media sciences in Marburg (M.A.) and Canterbury.
2000 Promotion at the ‘Bauhaus’ university Weimar.
1999/2000 Research associate for the ‘Catalogue raisonné’ of the drawings and pastels of Otto Dix, on behalf of the Otto Dix Foundation, Vaduz.
2000/2001 Cultural affairs officer for the JENOPTIK AG, Jena.
2002 Lecturer at the ‘Bauhaus’ university.
2002/2003-2008 Associate professor at the ‘Bauhaus’ university Weimar, head of history and art theory.
Exhibition projects, publications and research into contemporary art (main emphasis on identity and history as constructs, socio-cultural phenomena during the so-called transformation processes in Eastern Europe) as well as history of sculpture.
